Rano is a mission alarm clock for iPhone. This policy explains what information the Rano app and the website at getrano.app process, why it is processed, and the choices available to you.
Who is responsible
Rano is responsible for the processing described in this policy. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to support@getrano.app.
Information stored on your device
Rano stores the information needed to run your alarms locally on your iPhone. This includes alarm times, repeat days, labels, selected missions, alert behavior, selected Object Hunt targets, onboarding completion, current mission state, and wake-completion history.
This information is used to schedule alarms, resume an interrupted mission, show upcoming alarm details, and display your completed mornings. Rano does not provide a cloud account or sync this alarm history to a Rano server.
Camera access and photo missions
Camera permission is optional and is requested only when you choose a photo-based mission such as Object Hunt, Make Your Bed, or Sky Photo. Easy Math remains available without camera permission.
When you submit a live photo, the app processes it and sends the image with the requested mission target to a third-party image-recognition provider for a single limited classification: whether the requested object, a made bed, or real sky is visible. The verification request instructs the provider not to identify people, infer location, or describe unrelated private details.
Rano does not add the photo to your photo library or wake history and does not store it after the verification finishes. The app retains only mission state such as the target, attempt count, and result needed to complete or safely resume the alarm flow. The provider may process service and security data under its own terms and policies.
Verification service processing
Supporting the photo check involves four operational steps, none of which uses your name or account:
- An anonymous technical identifier is created so a verification request can be attributed to an app installation rather than to a person.
- Image recognition answers the single question of whether the requested mission target is visible.
- App-integrity checks help confirm that a request comes from a genuine, unmodified copy of Rano.
- Remote configuration delivers limited service settings, such as which verification model the app should use.
Product analytics and error reporting
Rano uses a privacy-limited product-analytics and error-reporting provider, hosted in the European Union, to understand whether important flows work and to diagnose reliability problems. The app may send an automatically generated distinct identifier, app build configuration, application lifecycle events, alarm and mission event properties, permission status, subscription-flow signals, and technical error details.
Rano does not enable session replay, automatic screen capture, element-interaction capture, in-app surveys, or push-notification tracking. Analytics events are designed not to include your photos, alarm labels, object images, or the contents of your device.
Subscriptions and purchases
Apple processes App Store payments and maintains your purchase history. Rano uses a subscription-management provider to present onboarding and subscription screens, observe subscription state, and support purchase restoration. That provider may receive technical device, purchase-screen-interaction, and subscription-state information. Where available it is linked to the same analytics identifier, so that Rano can understand the subscription flow without creating a Rano account.
Support messages
If you email support, Rano receives your email address, the contents of your message, and any information you choose to attach. This information is used to answer your request, investigate a problem, and maintain necessary support records. Do not send alarm photos or other sensitive information unless it is necessary for your request.
The Rano website
This website is static. It has no account system, waitlist, advertising tracker, marketing cookie, or website analytics in this release. Standard infrastructure logs may still be created by the hosting provider for security and delivery purposes when the site is published.
Retention and deletion
- Alarm data and wake history remain on your device until you change them, delete them, or remove the app.
- Rano discards its copy of a submitted mission photo immediately after verification.
- Analytics, error, subscription, and service-security records are retained according to operational need and the applicable provider settings.
- Support correspondence is kept as long as needed to handle the request and maintain reasonable business records.
Your choices and rights
You can deny camera permission and use Easy Math, change app permissions in iOS Settings, manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple Account, delete local alarms in Rano, and remove local app data by deleting the app. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection for personal information that can be linked to you.
Send a request to support@getrano.app. Because much of the service data is anonymous or stored only on your device, Rano may ask for limited technical information to determine whether a record can be located.
Children
Rano is not directed to children under 13, and Rano does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact support so it can be investigated.
International processing
Service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, providers use contractual and organizational safeguards for international transfers.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when Rano’s features or service providers change. The latest version will be published here with a revised “Last updated” date.
